The project to build a new toilet block at South Lawson Park has moved to the next stage, with the final design now on display.

This accessible and sustainable new toilet block is part of a broader upgrade to the park and will provide a much-needed public facility for park users.

“This toilet block is an important addition to South Lawson Park,” Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said.

“It will help us meet the growing demand for accessible public toilet facilities, given the increased use of the park for recreational and sporting activities.

“The need for upgraded facilities at South Lawson Park has been made clear through previous community consultations which took place between 2019 and 2023.

“This new toilet block is designed to provide modern, inclusive amenities, ensuring the park remains a welcoming space for everyone.”

The modern sustainable designs feature sought-after amenities such as a left and right-hand wheelchair accessible toilet, ambulant toilets, a baby change table, and a rainwater harvesting plant.

Enhanced car park surfaces, and accessible pathways will connect visitors to the park, and additional landscaping will restore the area surrounding the new facilities.

“The Blue Mountains is renowned for its natural beauty and outdoor spaces, so it’s vital we provide amenities that allow people of all ages and abilities to enjoy them comfortably,” Cr Greenhill said

“We are committed to making sure that our public spaces are designed with everyone in mind, whether you’re here to enjoy a quiet walk, engage in recreational sports, or simply enjoy the beauty of nature.”
